Description

The air is crisp, apples and squashes are in season, and pumpkin spice lattes are everywhere — it's time for fall charcuterie boards!

This tutorial will walk you through the seasonal produce and products to include as well as how to put together a balanced charcuterie board!

Ingredients

Meats: Choose 1-2, 2-4 oz of each

  • Salami
  • Proscuitto
  • Pepperoni
  • Sopressata
  • Capocollo
  • Deli ham
  • Sliced roast beef
  • Deli turkey
  • Smoked salmon
  • Pâté
  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Beef or turkey sticks, cut to smaller lengths if necessary

Cheeses: Choose 1-2, 2-4 oz of each

  • Sharp cheddar
  • Goat cheese chevre
  • Prairie Breeze
  • Gouda
  • Smoked cheddar
  • Blue cheese (not too crumbly)
  • Brie

Seasonal Fruits: Choose 1-2

  • Apples
  • Pears
  • Grapes
  • Figs (fresh or dried)
  • Persimmons
  • Citrus fruits (orange wedges, Cuties)
  • Pomegranate
  • Dried cranberries or apricots

Veggies: Choose 1-2 (optional)

  • Pumpkin and squash (great for decoration)
  • Carrots (cut carrots or baby carrots)
  • Pickled beets

Extras: Choose 1-4 (optional)

  • Crackers (particularly seasonal varieties)
  • Graham crackers
  • Pork Rinds or Cracklings
  • Nuts (toasted or raw, particularly walnuts, pecans, or pistachios)
  • Jams/jellies (keep it seasonal with fig jam, cranberry jam, or apple jam)
  • Stovetop Apple Butter
  • Maple Pumpkin Butter
  • Dark chocolate

Toppings/Garnishings: Choose 1-2 (optional)

  • Fresh herbs (rosemary or sage)
  • Drizzle of honey (I often use this over goat cheese or other spreadable cheeses!)

Instructions

  1. Choose the foods you'd like to include on your charcuterie board from the list above. Keep in mind that most charcuterie boards include meats, cheese, either fruits or veggies, and something crunchy like crackers or nuts. Use the toppings/garnishings, nuts, and/or dried fruits to fill in gaps when putting together the board.
