This blog post and SunButter Pork Satay recipe are sponsored by SunButter®! All opinions and experiences are my own.
You wouldn't think it from looking at the photos, but these SunButter Pork Satay Skewers make a perfect weeknight dinner. This recipe doesn't require much prep and cooks in just 10 minutes!
With a simple gluten free and dairy free marinade plus the creamy, nut free SunButter sauce, you'll see why pork definitely deserves a spot on your meal rotation.

How to make satay at home
Traditionally, this Asian dish simply involves grilled skewered meat served with a peanut sauce.
Of course, for some peanuts are a no-go. I don't always allow the legume in my kitchen, and when I skip it, I always turn to SunButter.
As a Fargo resident, I love that they're a local-to-me company (that's right, this international brand's home is Fargo, ND!) and that they stand by their commitment to allergy-friendly sunflower seed butter. They're one of the only sunflower seed butters out there without a bunch of additives and extra oils!

Anyway, now that we've got the nut-free satay sauce covered, let's talk about making pork satay in the comfort of your own home.
There's very little effort involved here. The marinade itself uses ingredients like coconut aminos (or tamari), coconut sugar, and chili sauce — all things I usually have hanging out in my pantry anyway.
Give the pork 30 minutes to marinate — this is a great time to prep side dishes for dinner OR you could just let it marinate longer, like overnight — then thread it onto a few skewers and broil for 4 minutes or so on each side. Done. Seriously, that's it!

Grilled pork satay
Now, this recipe covers how to make pork satay in the oven, but if you're blessed with warm weather and want to throw these skewers on the grill, here's how.
Heat the grill to medium-high. Grill, uncovered, for 2-3 minutes on each side.
There you go — grilled pork satay, done in no time at all!

Pork satay in the oven
On the flip side, if you prefer to work indoors, you can make pork satay in the oven.
Two options here.
First, use your broiler. Turn the broiler on high. Place the pork skewers on a baking sheet. Slide then into the oven 3-4 inches from the broiler coils. Broil for 3-4 minutes on each side.
Otherwise, you can just bake them as well. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Place the pork skewers on a baking sheet. Bake for 5 minutes on each side, or until juices run clear.

Save on SunButter!
As mentioned above, the real shining star here is SunButter. And I'm not just saying that because they're sponsoring this post. I'm saying it because without the SunButter satay sauce to pair the pork skewers with, this meal is missing something.
So make sure you don't skip the sauce. You WILL miss it.

SunButter Pork Satay Skewers
- Prep Time: 40 minutes
- Cook Time: 8 minutes
- Total Time: 48 minutes
- Yield: 4 servings 1x
- Category: Entree
- Method: Broiled
- Cuisine: Asian
Description
To maximize your time, prep your side dishes while the pork is marinating. If you plan to grill the skewers, heat a grill to medium-high and grill, uncovered, for 3 minutes on each side.
Ingredients
- ⅓ cup coconut aminos
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 3 tablespoons coconut sugar
- 3 tablespoons minced fresh cilantro
- 3 tablespoons chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 pound pork tenderloin, cut into ¼ inch slices
- ⅓ cup No Sugar Added SunButter
- 3 tablespoons hot water
- 2 teaspoons lime juice
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine coconut aminos, sliced green onions, coconut sugar, minced cilantro, chili sauce, sesame oil, and minced garlic. Place pork pieces into a shallow dish and cover with marinade, reserving 2 tablespoons of marinade for the sauce. Cover the dish and marinate the pork in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to overnight.
- Thread pork sliced onto metal or soaked wooden skewers, adding 2-3 slices per skewer. Discard the marinade. Turn your oven broiler on high. Move an oven rack 3-4 inches below the broiler. Place skewers on a parchment-paper lined baking sheet and broil for 3-4 minutes on each side, until juices run clear. If you want a bit more color or char on the pork, broil for an additional minute — just watch closely so they don’t burn!
- While the skewers are broiling, make the sauce. Combine the reserved 2 tablespoons of marinade, SunButter, lime juice, and hot water. Stir until smooth. Add additional hot water to reach desired consistency.
- Serve garnished with cilantro and alongside sauce.
Notes
No pork on hand? Use boneless, skinless chicken thighs.
Don’t have a broiler in your oven? Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F and cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
